The current Acadiana Medical and Dental Directories are available at the LPMS office. This directory is published by The Independent Weekly, with information provided in cooperation with The Lafayette Parish Medical Society, Iberia Parish Medical Society, St. Landry Parish Medical Society, and the Acadiana District Dental Association. The directory lists member physicians and dentists alphabetically and by specialty. It is a great resource for your office staff. You can also request several copies to put in your waiting room for your patients’ use. They are free of charge. For copies of the directory, please call the LPMS office at 232-2860.
The Clinic is presently experiencing a shortage of physicians to staff its Tuesday and Thursday evening clinics. As a licensed medical professional, you are in a position to help bridge a serious gap in Lafayette Parish’s health care system. The commitment involves giving approximately two hours of your time, working as a general medical or family practice physicians (regardless of your medical specialty), seeing non-emergency patients, writing prescriptions, and ordering appropriate lab and x-rays. Area hospitals perform these tests on a rotating weekly basis at no charge to Clinic patients. The Clinic also has a list of referring specialists who will see Clinic patients in their offices at no charge. You are protected against frivolous lawsuits by the Limited Liability Act No. 959, passed in 1997, which covers you while working in the Clinic or when seeing Clinic patients in your office. Won’t you please consider volunteering once or twice a year? We need your time and expertise! Of course, any support (office supplies, financial aid and your goodwill) would be welcomed and appreciated, but what we really need is YOU!!! For more information you may contact the Jan Cromwell, R.N. , Chairman, Physician Recruitment Committee,at 984-2008 or you can contact the Volunteer Coordinator at 593-9208.
The Lafayette Community Health Care Clinic needs your help. The State Board of Pharmacy will not allow the clinic to buy medications through the hospital any more. They are asking physicians having unexpired samples to please donate them to the clinic. Also please ask all pharmacy reps to pass by the clinic and bring samples. If needed, a volunteer from the clinic would be happy to pick up the samples from your office. If you have any onists and other citizens who donate their time and energy in support of access to quality health care for those in need. Gift of Care
Opening its doors in 1993, the Lafayette Community Health Care Clinic became
Louisiana's first non-profit clinic to provide free medical and dental
services along with medications to the working uninsured who might not
receive health care elsewhere. Today, the Clinic services 1800 patients per
year and is one of over 500 such clinics in the nation. The Clinic is staffed by volunteer physicians, dentists, nurses, pharmacists, nutritionists and others who donate their time and energy in support of access to quality health care for those in need. The "Gift of Care" is an on-going project of the Lafayette Community Health Care Clinic to raise needed operating funds. Your donation will help to meet the goals of adequate funding for patient services. As the Clinic is not funded by federal or state reveunes, your donation is a vital source of income that allows this community clinic to continue providing much needed health care services to the uninsured. For more information, please contact the Lafayette Community Health Care Clinic at 235-2299 or visit their website at www.lafcommunityclinic.org.
Acadian Village is host to visitors from around the world to view our culture here in Louisiana. The Doctors' Museum is one of the many displays at Acadian Village for everyone to enjoy. The Lafayette Parish Medical Society Alliance manages the upkeep of the museum and needs your help to keep doing so. To date, many projects have been completed such as the installation of air conditioning, interior and exterior painted, landscaped, refinished floors and a new roof. However, routine maintenance will always be needed. With your tax deductible contribution, the museum can be maintained on an ongoing basis and stay looking great! Let's keep this wonderful museum going! You can mail your contribution to the LPMSA, PO Box 52811, Lafayette LA 70505. Please be sure to indicate on your check "Contribution to Doctors' Museum." Any contribution you make is greatly appreciated! Adopt-A-Resident ProgramThe Lafayette Parish Medical Society is implementing an "Adopt a Resident" program, a new sponsorship and mentoring program for the internal medicine and family practice residents here in our community. The cost to sponsor a Resident is only $50.00 per year. This is a wonderful opportunity for you to serve as a mentor to this resident. You may also want to invite your "adopted resident" to attend society meetings and events with you. Please contact the LPMS office if you are interested in "Adopting a Resident." You will then be provided with a listing of the residents from which you can choose the resident you want to adopt. We hope to have all 48 residents sponsored! |
